Town totally dedicated to the growing of olives, almonds and nisperos, and with tourist influences due to its proximity to Gaudalest and Benidorm.

A few kilometres from Benidorm, next to Guadalest, and in the skirts of the Sierra de Aitana mountain on its northern face, a real example of village life in its natural form, an ideal place to rest and discover the walks on its paths and tracks.

The town centre is of Arab origin with curious little coloured fountains set in small squares, which can be reached via the narrow and steep streets.

In the interior of the Marina Baja region, next to Guadalest and close to Callosa d’En Sarria, La Nucia and Polop, an area influenced by the tourism of Benidorm and Altea.  On the northern skirt of the Sierra de Aitana mountain, which, with its 1559 m., is the highest in the province and the second in the Valencian Community.

Crochet worked in wool and other materials.

Game meat, such as wild boar.  “Pilotes de Dacsa”, “La borra” Rice with fressols and penques.  In Autumn the “esclatasangs” (grilled wild mushrooms).  Also a special herb liquer local to the area.

At the end of August the major fiestas are celebrated in honour of San Miguel Arcangel with an offering of flowers, popular Paellas, dances and, at the end of September, co-insiding with the religious festival, there is the Fair de San Miguel, a sampling of gastronomy and craftsmanship.  Another important celebration is in July, at the end of the month, for Sait Pedro, La Fiesta de los Jovenes (The Young People’s fiesta).

The parroquial church of San Miguel Arcangel, which has its own peculiarity of the bell tower set on the exterior of the last storey.The ruins of the Arab castle of the Peña del Castellet or “Cua de Bacalla”  XIII century, with two circular towers which overlook the valley.

The fresh water is the most appreciated in the area.  The most famous waterfall of the Sierra de Aitana mountain is the Font de Partegat, the water is so cold that you can only put your hand in it for one minute; on the way to it we have the Waterfall Font dels Xorrets which flows against a moss covered rock.  To reach the waterfall of Font Vella it is necessary to go to snowy Clot dels Teixos and the summit of the Aitana.  In winter it usually snows several days in Sierra de Aitana mountain.
