Description
Its streets are very steep resulting in the curiosity that one of the is called “Trencacames” (Legbreaker) due to the its acute inclination. Magnificent olive oil can be bought in the co-operative shop. The cold meats are of excellent flavour. This is an area abundant in water of high quality. There are many waterfalls and river sources, for example, El Moli El Arc, La Pi or Salines. There is accommodation available in the rural Houses and also a hostel. There are a group of various restaurants which offer the best traditional cuisine. It participates in the development of tourism in the whole valley around the Castle of Guadalest.
Geographical Location
Situated in the Marina Baja, to the north-east of the province, in the zone influenced by Benidorm and its surroundings. Near to the towns of Guadalest, Beniarda and Benifato. At the foot of the Sierra de Aitana mountain and bordering with the Puig Campana and the Sierra de Aixorta mountains to the north. It is quite a large town and with very uneven terrain. Barranco (Gully) of Arch. Part of the Guadalest Resevoir is within its town limits.
Access
The best route to reach this town is from Benidorm and Altea by the CV-70 road (Benidorm-Alcoy), it is the same road that passes through La Nucia and Polop. It is 72 Km from Alicante.

Olleta (Typical stews): Olleta de blat. Minxos. Pilotes de farina amb dacsa. Favas sacsadaes. An ample offer of traditional and typical restaurants, all of a very high quality. Desserts: Carquinyolis (a mixture of flour, eggs and grated almonds). Pastisets d’ametia, tortas cristina, almendrados.

Fiestas
Town Fiestas. These are celebrated from the 9th to the 13th August in honour of San Lorenzo. Major Fiesta, in honour of the Santisimo Sacramento, the third Sunday in October, with the celebration of the Aurora in the dawn of the Sunday.
