Principal Activity
Its traditional form of economy, agrculture, has been firstly re-inforced over the last decades by tourism, and lately surpassed by it. This has set out La Nucia with a dispersed population, with urbanizations which are dominated by family houses and extend over a large part of the town limits. Based traditionally in agriculture. On the lower slopes almonds and olives are cultivated and in the valley citric fruits , nisperos and caqui.
Description
La Nucia is an elegant residential area, its 69 urbanizations are occupied by national and foreign residents all year round, and this has not altered it customs nor the face of the this tranquil town. The municipal territory is a green carpet of pine and fruit trees which runs over a series of small ridges. L’Aixorta and la Aitana mountains protect it from the cold North winds which results in an average temperature of 15º throuout theyear. On Sunday mornings a trail salesmen reaching various kilometres sets up a market of second hand goods, one of the most important markets in the province. It is a good moment to stroll around the town, arrive at the old public washing place and go up the road amongst the white houses in what is still a quiet town, faithful to its old customs.
